On April 17 I met with my mentor Mrs. Kuss from 2-3 pm. The first thing we did was e-mailed my brochure to Mrs. Mimi so she could print it for me using her color printer I learned how to send an e-mail with an attachment. Then we began the power point for my class presentation. We designed the title slide and did slides on history, possible causes, characteristcs, and incidence of ADHD. We chose the slide design and searchd google images to find appropriate pictures for the slides.

meeting with mentor

On Thursday, April 5, I met twice with my mentor for my senior Capstone Project on Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. Mrs. Kathy Kuss, who is a doctoral student in gifted and creative education at the University of Georgia, and I discussed my project and began work on my brochure on ADHD. We completed four of the six panels on the brochure.
At the first meeting, from 11 am until noon, I explained that the goal of my project was to provide information on the history, symptoms, and treatments of ADHD. Mrs. Kuss shared with me several articles and a book containing information about my topic.
During our second meeting from 3 to 5 pm we designed the front of the brochure and three other panels, one on history of ADHD and two on characteristics of people with ADHD. We also discussed plans for a power point presentation and reviewed my research paper, incorporating information from the paper in the brochure.

The Renaissance

It sounds like a lot of different things were happening at this time. The printing press was a very important thing because it allowed people to get smarter if they could read more they could understand things more. Also alot of thing were changing with religion. Some people wanted to change to a different riligion because power was slipping away from the Catholic church.

the middle ages

1. The Crusades were a series of military campaigns waged by the christians. The christains were trying to recapture Jerusalemand the ''holy land''. The Crusades lasted from 1095-1291 thats almost 200 years. They went from the 11th to the 13th century but other crusades lasted through the 16th century. The Crusades pretty much lasted up to the Renaissance.
Thomas Becket was killed December 29, 1170. Becket was Achbiship of Canterbury from 1162-1170. Thomas Becket was in a conflict with King Henry II over rights and privileges of the church,Becket was assassinated by followers of the king in Canterbury Cathedral.
The Magna Carta is an English chater originaly issued in 1215. It was the most imprtant influence on the long historical process that led to the rule of constitutional law. The Magna Carta influenced many common law document such as, The United States constitution and the Bill of Rights, it is also considered the most impotant legal document in the history of democracy. The black Death was a serious disease that began in south-west Asia and spread to Europe by the late 1340s. The Black Death killed between a third to two thirds of the population in Europe

2. The Knight was like the perfect man he was stong in battles and everybody knew and liked him. He was the type of person who never got in trouble and always did things right and never got mad.In the story it says ''Though so strong and brave, he was very wise And of temper as meekly as a maid.'' and from all the things they said about him I think this summed him up the best.
The Squire like his dad the Knight he was a perfect young man he was pretty much good at any thing there was nothing he could not do like in the story it says Well could he sit on horse, and fairly ride. He could make songs and words thereto indite, Joust, and dance too, as well as sketch and write and that shows you he can do it all.
The Prioress her real name is Madam Eglantine and she is like a perfect little nun she is real polite and has great table manners like in the story it said At table her manners were well taught withall, And never let morsels from her lips fall, Nor dipped her fingers deep in sauce. I think thats perfect table manners.
The Monk is not like other monks he is a monk that hunts. I have never heard of a monk that hunts but niether has anyone else in the story it says, He gave for that text not a plucked hen Which holds that hunters are not holy men. So even back then it was unheard of that a monk would be a hunter.
The Friar is a man who gets along with everyone everywhere. He is like a celebrity all the boys want to be him and all the girls like him. Everywhere he went he had friends in the story it says, Highly liked by all and intimate was he With franklins everywhere in his country, And with the worthy women living in the city. After reading what I have read if i was in this story I would like to be the friar.
The Clerk is a philosipher and he does not care about money and being rich he just cares about education the story says For he would rather have at his bed's head Some twenty books, all bound in black or red, Of Aristotle and his philosophy Than rich robes, fiddle, or gay psaltery.
so he doesn't care about riches just philosophy.
The Physician was a great doctor but he cured people with astronomy which I don't understand how he did that but these people believed in him. In the story it says, He knew the cause of every sickness, Whether it brings heat or cold, moisture or dryness And where engendered, and of what humour; So I think he was a good doctor.
The Wife of Bath was lady who made clothes but I think she was ugly because in the story it says Gap-toothed was she, it is the truth I say. But she might not have been ugly because it also says she has five husbands so she might look alright.
The Parson was a poor holy man who judged all people equally. In the story it stated,''But if some sinful one proved obstinate, Whoever, of high or low financial state, He put to sharp rebuke, to say the least.''
The Miller was a big and strong man who stole corn and sold it for profit. As the story stated, ''He could steal corn and three times charge his fee."
The Manciple was a greedy man who manipulated others into giving him their money. As the story tells, ''Now is it not of God's very fair grace, That such a vulgar man has wit to pace, The wisdom of a crowd of learned men."
The Reeve was a master farmer who could foresee his harvest. As the Tale said, ''He could foretell, by drought and by the rain, The yielding of his seed and of his grain.''
The Summoner was an ugly alcoholic who worked for the church. As the story goes, ''Well loved he garlic, onions, and also leeks, And drink strong blood red wine untill dizzy. Then would he talk and shout as if he's crazy.''

3. I read the Miller's tale. It was a good story, a little nasty at times but still a pretty good story. The story is about this man named Nicholas who wants this girl named Alison. But Alison is married to the carpenter. The carpenter is not a very smart man, so Nicholas and Alison come up with a story that Noah's flood was going to happen again and tells the carpenter to make a boat so they can live after the flood.

4. The Canterbury Tales mentions knights who loved chivalry. In the Middle Ages, chivalry was a code of conduct that the knights followed. The code included an oath of loyalty to their king or ruler, rules of warfar, and they also wrote poetry and songs for ladies. This led to a new era in peotry known as the Romance movement.
In the Millers Tale, Absalom affection towards a female is displayed: ''To look at her he thought a merry life, She was so pretty, sweet, and lickerous.'' As shown in the tale, women were held in high regard. However their rights were limit.
Also in the millers tale there is a part that shows how men in the middle ages look at women. When they told the carpenter about the flood he was ready to do whatever he had to do because it would save his wife Alison or at least he thought it would. In the story it says ''Your wife I shall not lose, there is no doubt,Go, now, your way, and speedily about.''

anglo-saxon

1. I liked reading Beowulf even though it was hard to read. I like reading books about things that happened a long time ago, like The lord of the ring beowulf is like lord of the ring like when someone says who they are are like if I was introducing myself I would say scott son of george. The part that sticks out to me the most is the part when Beowulf went to the water to fight Grendals mom. It was just crazy how much strength Beowulf had he was so strong he could lift up a sword that the giants had made for themselves it was showing how strong he really was.
Another part of the story that I liked that stuck out to me is at the end of the story Beowulf was really old and he went to fight the dragon I don't think it was because he was cocky he just knew it was his time to go but he was going to take the dragon out with him.

2. The Anglo-Saxon culture was about warriors, protecting your home land , and absolute loyalty to your king or ruler. Beowulf is the perfect example of how people probably wanted to be like in those days everything the Anglo-Saxon people believed in he was that and more. One way he illustrates what they believed is in the story when Beowulf hears of grendal the story says; But a warrior of Hygelac'sheard of Grendel's doings;he was the strongest of menalive in that day, mighty and noble. That man called for a ship, said he would cross the oceanand help the king who needed help.Wise men urged him to that adventure though he was dear to them. They examined omensand whetted him on. This is showing you that Beowulf is a warrior and ready to protect his homeland.Another example is when grendals mom kills Aeschere, the kings confidant, Beowulf says, "Do not sorrow, wise king!It is better for a manto avenge a friend than mourn much. Each of us must await the end of this life. He who wishes will work for glory before death. That is best for the warrior after he is gone.Arise, guardian of the kingdom, let us go quicklyto see Grendel's kin.I promise you this:she will not escape to shelter--not into the earth's bosom, not into the mountain's wood, not into the sea's bottom,go where she will! For this day, havepatience in each woe."I think this shows how loyal Beowulf was. Another part of the story has to do with loyalty but it is someone being loyal to Beowulf. When Beowulf was fighting the dragon Wiglaf knew beowulf needed his help and when he got to Beowulf he said ''Now has the day comethat our lordis in need of fighters,of good warriors.Let us go to him, help the war-chiefin this fire-horror.'' I think this shows a lot of loyalty and it also shows that he is a warrior.

3. I think that this story is some what similar to the hero storys that we know now. Beowulf is pretty much like the superman of his time, but the thing that makes him different is that I still look at Beowulf as a man he was just really strong and could do some cool things with his strength. Beowulf unlike some of our super heros still answered to someone but our super heros usually have a fake idintity and regularly are not just known to every one as a super hero. The way that Beowulf is like our super hero because in the story is says ''he was the strongest of menalive in that day, mighty and noble.'' Just like the super heros we know he is famous every one knows of him.

4.I kind of like the ending of the story because you usually don't end a story with the main character, the hero, dieing. But it was really Beowulf own fault he died he was already old then he had been king for fifty years. Maybe he was just cocky since he did all that amazing stuff in the past. I look at the ending different I think Beowulf went to the dragon to die and also kill the dragon. I think since Beowulf did all that stuff in the past he wanted to go out in battle thats what he liked doing and thats what he was good at so I think he wanted to go out with a bang.
